I was looking for a more aggressive bouldering shoe, and this one worked out amazingly for me. They break in really nicely, and the toe is perfect for hooks and bicycle moves. Very happy with this shoe
My favorite shoe from the Butora line. Covered in rubber for all angles of climbing, while breaking in to be oh so soft. I am a larger climber (6'3") and heavier frame and don't usually climb in softer shoes, but the tension on this shoe and rubber midsole offer just enough support for me to get the performance out of the shoe at my weight and height.
Favorite climbing shoe for my wide feet and I've tried most brands. Also, it clings to my heel on heel hooks without a problem
My absolute favorite, long-hunted-for, perfect fitting shoe. Someone stole them from my gym bag and they have been my greatest loss!! LOVE these. My bestie was also converted from Scarpa to Butora Gomi. They're just the best.
Still looking for a climbing shoe for wide feet. The Gomi is the closest that I have found but still not wide enough for a Double E width.... I would love to speak to someone in your R&D.
One of my favorite climbing shoes, I’m on my third pair. I recommend going up half a size. I wear a men's US 8 in Nike shoes and an 8.5 in the Gomis, which fit perfectly. I struggled to find a shoe that fit my heel well, but these fit like a glove. I've used them both indoors and outdoors. For long multi-pitch routes, I prefer a more comfortable shoe as my feet swell up too much, but for projecting indoors or outdoors, these are always my first choice.
Excellent Intermediate into advanced shoe, they hold up well and are a crowd favorite.
I’ve owned my pair for only 3 months before they became useless. The Velcro strap has become completely unusable with zero grip. The shoes and rubber themselves are still great and after talking to other climbers with the same shoe it seems that this is an isolated issue with my pair. I’ve emailed butorausa about this issue multiple times but I have not gotten a response from their customer service teams. I’m hopeful that someone will be able to contact me about this issue.
Hello! I am sorry the Velcro failed for you on the Gomi! We got a bad batch of velcro in from a supplier that should now be fixed going forward. We will gladly take care of this issue for you if you still have the shoes!
Love the toes but heelcup too deep. Thought the shoes would be more soft and sensitive but these are definitely more of a comfort fit than performance.
Great shoes, great service.
I hope this culture of hating one’s feet in the climbing community ends soon. Just when you think you’ve found a proper fit—already up from your street shoe size— add another full size to that with Butora. It can get expensive without an offer of free shipping.
These were about to be my favorite shoes so I'm bummed that after barely a month of moderate gym use there's now a hole/tear in the rubber of the right toe. Giving Butora the benefit of the doubt I have to assume that this is a defect (issue with gluing etc. ) because otherwise they've held up great. Rubber hardly worn or scuffed. Fairly confident it's not my footwork. I'm careful with my feet and small (5'5", 115 lbs). My shoes tend to last a long time and I've never seen a wear pattern like this.
Emailed Butora hoping they'll be understanding and own up to what, again, I'd hope is not a normal product issue. So far not much beyond the normal return policy (and I'm just past the 30 day mark :/ ) but fingers crossed. I'd really like to give the Gomis another chance.
I bought these shoes after trying them on at a butora shoe demo in the gym. These work great for my wide feet, I also do not feel any strain on my big toe, which is great since I am used to barefoot shoes and was worried they would force my foot into unsuitable positions.
Seems like a nice shoe but I could barely get my foot in them. I'm a 10. 5 and ordered a 10. 5, way too small. My son wears as 9. 5 and even he thought they were too tight. I'll be returning them and buying shoes somewhere I can try them on.
Butora customer service was great and responds very quickly. Shoes were shipped and received quickly. Return procedures were simple with very fair policy as I needed to try multiple shoes and sizes being a first time Butora customer and have wide large feet. I'm incredibly pleased to find a shoe that fits and is so comfortable in forefoot and also stiff given my size. I wish there was a 14. 5 but I understand why they don't.
My daughter really enjoys these shoes. More aggressive and grippy than her previous shoes and they mold nicely to her foot.
Excellent soft sticky shoe that's become my favorite for 5. 12ish sport climbing. Great on bat hangs* and toe and heel hooks, and also effective on slick little sloping edges that would be invisible without tick marks.
*I've heard a rumor that someone even found a bat hang on Just Do It using Gomis. I use them on much easier terrain in these shoes, and cheat by not actually going completely hands free.
Fit of the blue (wide) version is similar to or slightly snugger that of the orange Scarpa Instinct VS. I appreciate that I can just order my street shoe size.
My husband swears by these - has two pairs to rotate when one of them needs resoling. Work really well on overhang, reasonably well on slab. Rubber covers the whole top, so good for toe hooks.
I wear street shoe size 7 and usually down size on my climbing shoes about 1. 5-2. 5 sizes down but ordered this one true to street shoe size of 7USW and did not disappoint. Took a minute to pull my feet in but the non stitching toe box made the squeeze so comfy!
I'll climb on them and see how they feel but had borrowed from a friend before to climb slab outside with and they are amazing so I have no double I'll love them :) Just wanted to leave this review so people know how to get sizing that is okay for them. Again, I'm used to pain and. curled toes so if you want better comfort then go half a size more or something but that is just not my concern since I have other pairs for absolute try hard feet crunching time. lol
I’ve always had difficulty finding wide climbing shoes and I decided to give these a try. Amazing fit and comfort while bouldering, great on small foot holds, toe and heel hooks. My only complaint is that if you have semi-sweaty feet then your feet are gonna be stained red and black for at least 3 days after your climb. A lot of my socks have been stained from the dye my feet pick up from after my climbs!
Great fit, keep in mind compared to their climbing shoe brands I had to go up a size up. My everyday shoe size is 9 For this shoe I had to go up a size, and get size 10.
the narrow version were my favorite shoe. however, i recently ordered a new pair and discovered my feet are now stained yellow. this was never an issue before. i compared to my previous narrow gomis which were black inside, but the new ones are yellow! also the inside rubber itself tends to stain my feet black on the heels more than the old ones did.
This is a great shoe for an intermediate / advanced climber. I truly appreciate the durability of these shoes, as the rubber is very thick. The rubber on the upper also helps if you have a habit of dragging your toes! These shoes are a good candidate to resole, as the upper and rand usually wear at ~ half the rate as the sole.
I generally find the most comfortable fit is inline with my street shoe size or even a half size up. (I wear the wide fit).
Great edging, heel hooks, toe pressure, and generally more comfortable than other aggressive shoes I've worn in the past.
I would say this is a great all around aggressive shoe for the average climber. If you climb hard, and at a high volume you'll really benefit from having a pair of Gomi's!
I will say that if you're looking for a comp shoe, or are sending V12+, there may be better performing shoes. However, the Gomi still performs at a high level, while providing unmatched durability and comfort.
Absolutely the most comfortable and stable shoe I have ever worn. These are my 5th pair of climbing shoes. I have very wide feet which has been an issue for years. Breaking in new shoes has been a time consuming challenge. 4th brand i have tried and Butora Gomi is the most advanced shoe, yet still the most comfortable I have worn - crazy.
The narrow Gomi is hands down my favorite shoe for boulder and sport, indoor and outdoor. I’ve even used it for trad climbing! I forerun at my local bouldering gym so these shoes see a lot of use, and I’ve been impressed by the balance of sticky rubber and durability. My only complaint is that the narrow version has heavily dyed interior leather that permanently stains my feet/toenails and seems to be negatively affecting my toenail health despite all my scrubbing? whereas the wide version has undyed leather inside. Butora, please start making the narrow version with undyed leather inside!
Love these, it’s my second pair. One of my fav brands
a little difficult to get them over from singapore, but super worth the wait, honestly a super well fitting shoe for me and glad i found these 💪
Gomi is my go to shoe now.
Love the Gomi
I started with the acro comps (which are amazing shoes) but I find these to fit significantly better so this will be my go-to for replacements moving forward.
