Comfort and Performance!
I have been using these in the gym for about 11 months now. I really struggled to find climbing shoes for wide feet, but the Sierra fit the bill! I purchased what I would consider a "comfort fit" so I don't have to remove my shoes between climbs at the gym.
My regular shoe size in a US-11 ("Xero" brand), and I selected a US-13 for my Sierras. This size allows me have my foot and toes touch the and of the climbing shoes without any bending of the toes, contorting of my foot, or having any discomfort at all. I can chase my kiddo around the gym, belay, climb, and forget I'm wearing climbing shoes the whole time.
The performance is pretty solid, even when using a "comfort fit" size. I climb 5.10 regularly and challenge myself on 5.11 at my gym. I'll definitely be buying another couple pairs, one of which I will size down for a more aggressive fit. The rubber seems really sticky and I was instantly able to climb routs with these that I couldn't when wearing my Scarpa Origins.
The laces don't bother me, though I do wish there was a Velcro version for when I size down and DO want to remove shoes between climbs.
Butora is one of the only climbing shoe companies that recognizes that feet can be really long but really narrow. The Mantra was a great shoe for that reason. But the Sierra -- with one width fits all -- does not work if you have narrow feet.
Hello! Thanks for the feedback! The Sierra is one of our only shoes that we just carry in the wide version. Our most similar shoes available in a narrow version are the Endeavor 2.0 and the Gomi!
My first intermediate aggressive shoe and can honestly say it’s equally comfortable to my Endeavors.
